FAQ Guide

  • When should I book support?

We strongly recommend that you reach out as soon as possible to discuss your potential needs and goals for postpartum care. Often, families are securing services in early-to-mid pregnancy.

  • My baby is already born! Am I too late?

Absolutely not! Babies can come expectedly or unexpectedly. For families who are open to working with us, we can discuss availability and plan to find a rhythm that works for you until consistent support can be worked into schedules.

  • How will we know how much support we might need?

We work with all families to meet their specific needs, and together, we’ll create a plan of care that feels supportive of every member of your family. This plan might include daytime support, overnight support, or a mixture of both! We can even help strategize with you on how frequently to schedule my visits balancing them with family and friend help, so that there are no large gaps in your care. Contact us and we’ll set up a time to learn more about your goals for postpartum, and to begin exploring what postpartum doula care might look like for your family.

  • Can I meet you before beginning support?

Most definitely! With every package, visits in-person or virtually at 36 weeks (or before care begins) will be scheduled. This is a great chance for your doula to spend time getting to know your family, learn more about your needs, answer your questions, and to help come up with a plan for caring for you all following birth.

  • My family members will be here to help after birth. Should I still consider hiring a postpartum doula?

We support everyone in the days and weeks following a new baby’s arrival and allow your visitors to focus on bonding with your little one (and leave the rest to me!). As your support team, we also understand that not all of us have a village, and we will empower you to find your own voice as parents.

We work seamlessly with you and your family to take care of whatever needs to be done. If that’s laundry, we’ll fold it. If it’s meal prep, we’ll chop it. If it’s getting up at 2 a.m. to help with feedings, we are wide awake and ready. More importantly, we also provide current, evidence-based recommendations and information about things like safe sleep practices, babywearing advice, and breastmilk storage and formula preparation guidelines. We are here as a safe, judgement-free place and supportive shoulder to lean on when you need to ask questions, share your concerns or worries, and begin to process your birth story.

  • I’m not sure we need a package. Can we book support as-needed?

Yes! Support is available as-needed, too! If one of our support packages don’t quite fit your needs, there are custom paackages. If you’re considering one visit, or maybe a handful of visits, we can help coordinate that as well! Note: We require a minimum of 4 hours for daytime support, and 8 hours for overnight support, but shifts can be extended beyond that depending on your needs and our availability.
